Château d'Aiguilhe
Château d'Aiguilhe is located on the highest hill along the right bank of the Dordogne.
This land is on the border of Cotes de Castillon and Saint-Emilion.Today, on an area of 110 hectares, 50 are dedicated to winemaking. The vineyard is planted exclusively on the upper parts of the hills. It enjoys a natural drainage and an excellent sunshine, through a comprehensive exposure to the south.Soils, clay-limestone and clay loam, composing a thin layer of ground rather poor, on a limestone substrate. This ensures the vine remarkable water regulation in any season. This soil and the average age of the vineyards (28) combine wonderfully. The conditions are highly favorable for growing vines.
The minerality of clay and limestone soil gives a wine that combines power and finesse. The roundness of Merlot (80%) is associated with the density and complexity of Cabernet Franc (20%). This wine to savor can nevertheless from his 5th or 6th year, after decanting.
