Château Léoville Barton

The Chateau Léoville Barton was born in 1826 when an Irish passion for wine and France, a certain Hugh Barton, has acquired a portion of the estate vineyards Léoville. A few years ago, he became owner of Léoville-Barton, also held by Bernard Burtschy.

So when came the 1855 Hugh Barton found himself at the head of a Second and a Third Classified Growth in Saint-Julien appellation.Léoville-Barton is right by the town, and some 50 hectares of vineyards are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, lord of the Medoc, with his side Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The soils are those of the appellation, with serious on a clay subsoil, all being well drained and planted with old vines that give rich and powerful wines.

In winemaking, the Barton family - now Anthony and daughter Lillian - was surrounded by Jacques and Eric Boissenot, father and son, who have traditionally worked with larger areas. The press and critics hail the consistency and quality of the estate wines for fifteen years.
