Château Léoville Poyferré

There was, in the early 19th century, the vast field of Léoville, created by Alexander Gascq who wanted to make a model farm. With 120 hectares, it was the largest vineyard in the Médoc. He was born after the marriage, in 1840, the daughter of the Marquis de Las Cases with Baron Jean-Marie Poyferré of Cere. 15 years later, the area is classified Second Cru for the quality of its soil.

In 1920, the Cuvelier family, originally from northern France and already active for several decades in the Bordeaux vineyards, takes control of the area through civil society areas of Saint-Julien. Today is Didier Cuvelier at the controls.
