Château Gloria

The Castle Gloria is unique in its history. Gloria was born in 1942 with the acquisition by Henri Martin of a 6 ha plot of land purchased from the Château Beychevelle, while most of the great châteaux of the Médoc have historical roots that are hundreds of years old. Henri Martin, born in the world of wine at Beychevelle, was, like his father, a cooper. Mayor of Saint-Julien, a man of influence, who among other things became president of the Interprofessional Council of Bordeaux Wines, he succeeded over the years in buying parcels from the famous châteaux of the Saint-Julien appellation. Rooms an area of ​​44 ha.

After his death in 1991, his son-in-law, Françoise, and his son-in-law, Jean-Louis Triaud, managed the Château Saint-Pierre, the fourth Grand Cru in 1855. At the same time, Jean-Louis Triaud, As his father-in-law had been, is presently president of the Girondins de Bordeaux. The clay-gravel soil is spread over 3 zones: in the center of Beychevelle, to the west and north of the appellation, to the limit of Pauillac. The vines are planted very classically with cabernet-sauvignon (65%), merlot (25%), cabernet-franc and petit-verdot (5% each). The average yield is 45 hl / ha. The estate produces a second wine, Château Peymartin, which accounts for about 20% of the total volume.
