Château la Croix de Gay

The current owners, Dr. Alain Raynaud and his sister Chantal Lebreton, succeeded their father Noël Raynaud in 1998 to continue the family work whose origin dates back to the 15th century with the Barraud family. Dr. Alain Raynaud, former President of the Union des Grands Crus, is one of the most renowned oenologists on the Left Bank. Chantal Lebreton directly supervises work at the vineyards and cellars. It also relies on the advice of the famous oenologist Michel Rolland.

The 10 ha vineyard, located in the hamlet of Pignon in Pomerol, extends on clayey-gravelly and sandy-gravelly soils with a basement of filth of iron. The vines are composed of Merlot (95%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The average age of the vines is 30 years and the planting density of 6,000 feet / ha. The cultivation is carried out in a traditional way with meticulous work throughout the year to improve the quality and control the yields: disbudding, thinning and harvesting in green.
