Château Pontet Canet

The grounds of Château Pontet-Canet are located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, south of the neighboring vineyards of Mouton Rothschild and Armailhac. The 80 hectares of the vineyard of Pontet-Canet see the preeminence of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety that brings the structure. It is assembled with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which provide a necessary touch of suppleness and charm.

In some vintages, the little verdot adds a bit of complexity to this assembly. The philosophy displayed is to intervene as little as possible, but as naturally as possible in the vineyard. Cultivation and work on the ground are given pride of place: all chemical weed-killers are thus banned. The breeding lasts from sixteen to twenty months depending on the vintage. This is done in barrels, of which the proportion of new ones does not exceed two-thirds.
