Château Doisy Daëne

Ranked second in 1855's, the Doisy-Daëne castle is owned by the Dubourdieu family since 1924. The vineyard, aged on average 40 years, extends over 16 hectares, located on the land of the Barsac plateau. The vines enjoy special geological configuration: a thin layer of clayey sands covers the limestone subsoil. This rock slab prevents the vine rooting depth; Moreover, limestone returns during the summer in the vineyard the water it has absorbed during the winter. This peculiarity of the soil contributes to the production of wines of great finesse. To harvest the grapes affected by noble rot, the harvest is carried out in at least three passages, sometimes up to six. After vinification, the wines are aged in barrels for 9 months, then for 10 additional months in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling. The wines from this area show an unparalleled wealth. Generally high guard, they are already very pleasant in their youth. Characterized by elegance and purity, they are tasty, racy, full and fruity, developing notes of honey and rose. They also reveal deep and persistent on the palate, finesse outweighing the power and vivacity on the heady character.
