Château Sociando-Mallet

Sociando Mallet castle is a vast vineyard located in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne in the Haut-Médoc, along the Gironde and in the immediate vicinity of the Saint-Estèphe. The first owner of the premises was a Sieur Sociando in the first half of the 17th century. In 1850, the widow Mallet adds his name and since 1969, Jean Gautreau who owns the domain.

He worked with patience and passion, to make Sociando-Mallet one of the finest unclassified Médoc wines. For it is one of the peculiarities of the domain you want to be out of any classification. The thing is even highlighted on the website, with the following sentence: neither classified nor bourgeois ... Sociando-Mallet, simply.

The 85 hectares of vineyards are located on hilltops serious and clay and limestone base, with three varieties of this part of Bordeaux: Cabernet Sauvignon 55%, Merlot 40% Cabernet Franc and 5%. Proof of the quality of the field, Bernard Burtschy retained the first and second wine.

Little originality to a large and renowned area, a youth hostel recently opened on the edge of Gironde, near the vineyards. A nice way to discover a unique name!
